BLOCKS
a couple of ongoing, interactive sculptures.
the larger piece consists of 125 3" x 3" blocks milled down from three different densities of wood. 50 blocks are "grass," and 75 represent "sky." each face of each block will be its own, fully-realized painting -- 750 small paintings in all. so, i should be done sometime around 2020!
the smaller piece consists, roughly, of 90 2" x 2" milled wooden blocks. these have a wider color range than the larger blocks, but still represent colors found in different natural landscapes. my inclination is to keep these blocks abstract, focusing on the way the paint interacts with the wood.
